SQL Server DBA

 

Location: New Albany, OH

Duration: 6+ Months

Rate: Market

 

Responsibilities:

• Complete platform upgrades, migrations, quarterly patching, performance monitoring, and coordination of actions with team members

• Responsible for providing day-to-day activities, including, but not limited to; backup, restore, performance tuning, security management, capacity planning, standards development and enforcement

• Responsible for investigating potential problems and issues raised by business users; this includes being in an on-call rotation

• Monitor database events and proactively optimize system performance

• Work with the team to automate reactive procedures where possible, and to promote rapid response to known issues

• Work in conjunction with other IT, application development, and business groups to understand functionality, scalability, performance, security, and integration requirements from the database perspective

• Develop and maintain an in depth understanding of the database architecture and the general application functionality used to maintain data integrity

• Provide a high level of customer satisfaction through the effective delivery of technical support and service

 

Qualifications

• BS in Computer Science or related field

• 3+ years experience in Microsoft SQL Server Administration in large multi-server database environment

• Experience in architecting, configuring and maintaining highly scalable environments required

• Strong knowledge of Database/SQL performance tuning in a high concurrency environment required

• Experience implementing advanced features in SQL Server including, but not limited to, Snapshots, mirroring, and clustering is required

• Must have good written and verbal communication skills, and interface directly with program development and management

• Excellent documentation and technical writing skills

• Experience with Oracle 10/11 Database Administration is a plus

• Experience with VMWare a plus

• Microsoft DBA Certification a plus
