Job Description

The Product Engineer for Advanced Powertrain is responsible for designing and developing base engine components and systems which demonstrate improved performance over current product. The Product Engineer will have responsibility to conceive, design, procure and develop new and innovative engine hardware solutions to provide breakthroughs in engine efficiency and weight with minimized cost. This person will take these concepts far enough to provide clear production viability

EDUCATION & QULAIFICATION

· Bachelor of Science / Engineering / Technology in Mechanical / Automotive / Production Engineering. Higher education or Technical degree preferred (not required).

· 3 to 7 years of progressive engineering experience

· Practical shop floor experience will be an added advantage.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES / JOB DUTIES

· Design and develop automotive part, components & subsystems. Create CAD Model, Installation 3D data, Installation sheets using CATIA V5 tool.

· Understand and adhere to North American, Japanese, European standards and regulations.

· Prepare and recommend technical alternatives involving technology, methodology, tools, processes and solution components

· Participate Design Reviews and Quality Reviews with management

· Communicate with the customers, business users to gather the business requirements and enhancements.

· Maintain component development and tooling schedules in accordance with customer project schedules, and assuring that all milestones are met on time. Interact with various cross functional teams and Supplier for design feasibility and manufacturability

· Ensures the smooth product development and validation of all the technical, functional and production deployment issues and effectively communicate with the offshore team for resolution of issues during the product development.

· Integrate and demonstrate design and development work in Tech Mahindra at the customer’s work place. Coordinate with technical peers and customers to implement technical solutions

· Follow established group standards and methodologies and provide feedback necessary to improve those processes.

· Interact with the client managers for getting feedback

· Provide the required support to the customer as agreed in the service level agreement

 

SKILLS REQUIRED

· Advanced CATIA V5 user.

· Excellent working knowledge of vehicle powertrain components, subsystems & systems. Practical knowledge including design, sizing, and packaging would be added advantage

· Experience with engine design, development & testing and operation would be added advantage

· Familiar with practical application of geometric dimension & tolerance (GD&T)

· Strong background in understanding powertrain related production tooling, design, manufacture and application.

· Knowledge of manufacturing processes for machined, casted, sheet mental & plastic components.

· Self-starter with strong team working, communication skills and demonstrated problem solving ability

· Excellent communication skills

· MS Office proficient
