Financial Reporting/ Product Control Consultant

 

Location: New York, NY

Duration: Long Term

Rate: Market

 

Responsibilities:

 

·         Understand and apply knowledge of various financial products and regulatory requirements during projects

·         Mapping out the flow interest income/ expense on the global scale across Investment banking products including consolidation across levels for P&L and of Balance sheet preparation.

·         Primary responsibility is the daily production and analysis of Interest calculations, posting entries and assessing impact on profit & loss, and balance sheet reports

·         Assist in month end closing process including General Ledger entries, balance sheet substantiation and P&L reporting

·         Assist with control testing for the monthly Management Control Assessments (MCA)

·         Identify and assist with testing of re-engineering opportunities to enhance processes and controls and achieve Best in Class practices

·         Identification and analysis of key Balance Sheet / P&L Interest calculation variance drivers vs. prior periods

·         Travel up to 25% may be required based on client requests/ commitments

 

Qualifications

 

• 3-12 years of Financial Reporting/ Product Control experience 
• Experience of working in Investment Banking and/or Broker Dealer in US either directly or through a Big 4 consulting firm or any other reputed professional services firm is a must
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting and/or Business Administration
• CPA preferred
• Experience in month close of balance sheet and income statement accounts, including substantiation and sign- off
• Experience in preparing financial statements 
• Experience in Change the Bank projects is a plus

                                                  

Skills

• Knowledge and experience of various financial products
• Strong understanding of and experience in US GAAP
• Awareness and keen interest in changing regulatory landscape 
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Competency with spreadsheets, word processing and database software and business systems (Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, SAP, etc.)
• Demonstrable skills in content creation and management, product positioning, proposal development and oversight, and relationship management 
• Ability to multi-task and work under strict deadlines
• Strong quantitative and problem solving skills
• Team player and goal oriented
• Proven ability to lead projects and engage with senior management
