Database Developer
Location: Monterey Park, CA

GENERAL SUMMARY:
Under the direction and supervision of the Manager of EDI Systems and Implementation, the Programmer/Analyst will provide technical programming and database expertise to solve complex business processes. Formulates and devises application scope and objectives. The Programmer/ Analyst will prepare detailed specifications, program design, program coding, testing, debugging and documentation in support of existing and new application systems.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Minimum 3 years' experience using PL-SQL and/or T-SQL
· Oracle and/or SQL Server DB. SSIS/ETL a plus
· Minimum 3 years development experience
· 4 year degree in computer science preferred or equivalent experience
· Experience on application design, file structures, coding practices, quality assurance and documentation
· Experience in EDI/ANSI X12/HL7 a plus
· Healthcare a plus
· Unix a plus
· Ability to complete work in a timely manner
· Ability to work in a demanding environment
· Candidate must have strong written and verbal communication skills
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Develop, enhance, code, test, debug, implement and documents complex programs for business solutions
· Creates documentation in work assignments such as program code notes and technical documentation
· Interview end-users and gather application requirements. Document requirements and review them with management
· Design, document, create, and optimize database schemas
· Tune queries, stored procedures, and functions to improve performance
· Responsibilities include but are not limited to migrating legacy applications, assessing needs, systems development, and recommending build/buy solutions.
· Prepares detailed specifications from which programs are developed and coded.
· Ensures programs meet standards and technical specifications; performs technical analysis and component delivery.
· Gathers information from existing systems, analyzes program and time requirements.
· Prepares time estimates and justification for assigned tasks.
· Designs programs for projects or enhancements to existing programs.
· Writes specifications for programs of high complexity.
· Works with client and management to resolve issues and validate programming requirements within their areas of responsibility.
· Develops test plans to verify logic of new or modified programs.
· Remains abreast of industry technical trends and new development to maintain current skills and remain current with industry standards.
· Perform daily production support / monitoring functions.
· Schedules/Performs training of groups and/or individuals on the general use of programs developed.
· Work closely with user departments in system and programmer design of new applications.

Required Skills:
· Oracle PL-SQL preferred or SQL Server T-SQL
