Key Responsibilities:
Work with front and middle office teams and other technology groups to design, build, and deliver excellent APRIL solutions to the Global Foreign Exchange business
Be a voice of knowledge and experience in their areas of expertise.
Be a productive, independent, self-motivated Senior Java developer.
Provide third-line technical support for APRIL
Manage workload, working confidently and independently with an appreciation of the key business drivers for the platform
Take ownership of open issues seeing them through to conclusion
Develop mostly in Java with some Python
follow established paradigms for development
Key Skills:
We're looking for smart developers with strong computer science fundamentals and a track record of delivery. The successful candidate must demonstrate all of the following skills:
Extensive experience with software architecture and senior development skills in a high pressure, time critical environment.
Extensive and in-depth experience with Java J2EE development
Strong experience in developing highly multithreaded, highly scalable, concurrent applications
Extensive experience of a relational database.
Extensive experience of multi-tier architectures.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to effectively manage multiple streams of work and to organize self (and others) to deliver in a timely fashion.
In-depth understanding of performance tuning, message integrity and security related to real-time applications.
Ability to provide mission critical 3rd level production support
Experience (Desired):
The successful candidate will additionally have at least four of the following:
Strong Oracle database experience.
Experience in developing with JMS, RMDS, TIB or other similar bus.
Experience in developing web solutions with Java (JSP, JFC, Spring MVC, struts or similar)
Experience of native platform integration.
Extensive experience in developing highly multithreaded, highly scalable, concurrent applications
Foreign Exchange markets, both cash and vanilla and exotic derivatives.
Investment banking trading business in general (across Rates, Credit & Equities)
Strong experience of Python
Familiarity of Scrum and Agile development
Team leadership or project management skills
Qualifications (not mandatory):
A good degree in Computer Science, Maths or other related subject or equivalent qualification
